Sea
Angling
The sea fishing on this coast has probably some of the best fishing
anywhere in Ireland.
For shore anglers, there are hundreds of rock and beach marks that
offer everything from big ray, pollack, wrasse and conger to turbot,
flounder, plaice and even cod and the odd bass.
Boat anglers are spoiled for choice, with charter boats operating
from Clifden, Cleggan, and Westport, all within easy driving distance. Clew Bay is noted for Common Skate, with monster fish to over 200lbs taken every year. The mixed ground south of Clew Bay to Clifden and beyond includes many reefs and rough ground marks interspersed with vast areas of sand and clean ground. Species available include thornback ray, plaice, turbot, ling, pollack, wrasse, cod, conger eel, tope and blue and porbeagle shark.

If you want to eat what you've caught, that's no problem too, we are happy to fillet and cook your catch back at the lodge. What better way to end a good day on the sea than a delicious fish supper!
